The Roommate went down An Entire Rabbit Hole following this exact train of thought. the thing is the ripple effect, right? I mean, the movies still do fine probably, but they don't become A Thing the way that they have in our timeline.

She posits that Sebastian Stan dies in B Movie Obscurity, Chris Evans becomes some weird indie film director. Tom Hiddleston is a big name in theater, yeah, and maybe he becomes like... Colin Firth, you know? Makes his name doing period dramas and doesn't get really A-List until he's middle aged. Hemsworth is still a big deal, but only in Australia and tangentially because of his more successful brother (the one in the Hunger Games movies) Chris Pratt never becomes buff. RDJ still makes it into the Sherlock Holmes movies, but that becomes, like, an eight movie franchise because Marvel isn't eating up all his time.

My addition to this theory is that we don't get the Star Wars Story movies like Rogue One or Solo or any of the other stuff they have planned, because without the MCU who's going to even try being that ambitious? So instead we just get three more SW movies ala LotR/The Hobbit. RIPPLES UPON RIPPLES.
